Hey everyone hope your holidays are great.
This is a long shot: I am adding driving lights to my car. On my Solara, the D.R.L. switch is mounted on the headlight, turn signal, combination switch. I want to replace the combination switch on my Supra, with the Solara combination switch and hook up my driving lights to the D.R.L. switch. Does anyone know if they swap over directly? Get it?.. I hope. Thank you! Merry Christmas!! (to most)

Would have to see the difference but i doubt it.

could also just add in another fog light switch and take out a coin one.

Hmmm...are you talking about daytime run lights, i.e. lights that come on as soon as you turn on the ignition of the car? In Canada we have to have daytime run lights, even on cars that are older and didn't come with them. What we do is a small modification to the fog light switch to make them stay on. There are a couple ways to do this however. But to try and answer your question, see below :)

Do you want to use the entire Solara turn signal stock (aka combination switch) or just the turn signal switch from the solara? If the entire combination switch, my suggestion is to pull off the combination switch off the supra and see if the Solara one lines up (I'm willing to bet it won't though). Also buying the wiring diagram book specifically for your car would really help you figure out how to get the wiring to work if in fact the unit bolts right up. I was surprised to find out how much the wiring differed between a 90 and 91 supra. They are on eBay.

If you were looking to swap just the turn signal switch, assuming you could attach it to the supra combination switch...if there were for example 4 wires on the stock supra turn signal switch and 6 on the solara's, you should be able to match up the four wires and the other two wires would obviously be for the fog lights. It would take some trial and error and using the wiring diagram for your supra to get it figured out. You'd have to do some custom wiring between the fog light switch up to the turn signal switch to run your fog lights.

Good idea, I used the coin one for a dual stage turbo boost switch,,first stage 0-12 lbs second stage 12-16 lbs. thanks though, appreciate it.

Does your car still have cruise control or the rear defogger? If not you could always throw the switch in place of those. I doubt the solara headlight stalk would work very well without a lot of modification.

Thanks you very much I thought it would be a long shot. I'll just have add the day time running lights to the parking lights circut. The Solara has a "D.R.L." on the "combination" switch ,.... I was thinking of using it for the D.R.L. switch portion of the combination switch,...Hey at least know the name of the switch now,...thanks to you as well, appreciate it!

I asked is because when I was buying that switch, I learned that Volvo uses the same switch. thought it might be the same, Again Thanks guys!!

Then do you have a way to turn the daytime running lights on or off in Canada? Or do you control it by turning on the ignition switch?

Technically the DRL are not supposed to be turned off. I think stock US model fogs only turn on when you have the headlights up and fog light switch turned on. There are two mods that you can do that I'm not super familiar with but one is that you can bypass the headlights being on to use your fogs. The other is you can bypass the entire fog switch entirely after you do option 1. My car had the first mod done already but because I could still turn my DRL off with the fog switch they failed my inspection recently. I jumpered a couple pins on the fog switch harness which basically bypassed the switch, but it will get me past inspection. I'm not sure what I did is a "proper" work around though. Someone may have a better suggestion.

Sorry I'm not sure whAt I wrote made sense. I'm typing this on my phone [emoji6]

Not saying it isn't going to work, just saying it most likely wont be plug and play. I'd start by checking to see if the connectors on the Supra one and Solara one are even remotely close.
