Oh god no. Bad idea LoL what shipping company is it getting shipped through? I used to work for abx (which is now DHL) and if it said fragile it was thrown harder *sigh* hope it's heavy enough so it won't be beat up too bad

yep. there was a thread about this a while ago. i think IJ said that the labels 'fragile' and 'do not bend' were taken as a challenge.

good use of packing tape though; ive gotten more than a few packages with just one layer of tape that's broken through in several spots, pisses me off.

The key to a good pack job is keep it tight! If the parts cant move inside, it take real abuse to hurt them. Heavy stuff...I'll double box ;)

I work at a UPS Store, people write "DO NOT TOSS" on it.. I don't know what they were thinking. These shipping companies don't pay attention to fragile stickers.. and they're trained not to. This is because the package should be packed well enough that it shouldn't need special handling. Just a rule of thumb. If it wont survive from a 4 foot "drop", I'd consider re-packing it.

LOL exactly.
My brother was going to ship out a door handle, and it wouldn't fit in the box. He stretched the box, and it was almost sticking out.
I started hassling him on his shipping job, and asked if he thought he should find a bigger box.
he said no

so i held it about 5' off the ground and told him "what do you think is gonna happen if i drop it?"

"i dunno, probably break it.. so don't drop it"

"what do you think UPS is gonna do?"

"um..."

"right. so repackage it in a box it fits in"

lol

I always package things I ship so they'll survive getting thrown against a wall pretty hard... shipping companies aren't easy on things.

I do shipping for a living (mainly UPS)...........and occasionally have taken Air packages to there dock after hours. Package handlers get too much blame for the damage. In my small 200,000 person town, the conveyor system they have is very brutal. Ya, drivers roll heavy packages sometimes, but they don't do all the damage you see.

BTW..........UPS suggests you cover all seems with tape, not just where the top and bottom close.

well tht area. wait till you move closer to milton area and brompton right near the outskirts. i think they did a study and 200000 of the 650000 were polish :aigo:
