i really need help fixing this car. it is a 87 turbo 5 speed. i just put new plugs, wires, a different tps and isc in it and it is still running like crap. i can start it but it takes a while for it to start, and when i drive it i can give it some gas and it wont do anything. i unplugged my afm to see if that was the problem and when i unplugged it the car was still idleing i thought the car was supposed to shut off after disconnecting the afm? could someone pleas help me fix this car. by the way i currently have the dp off waiting to put my new one one dont think that would make a difference. any help will be appreciated.

well, you're attitude is all wrong towards the car.
your approach is also kinda wrong. Have you checked your codes?
When you unplug the AFM the car is not supposed to die, however it will if you give it gas.
What made you think the TPS and ISC were bad enough to warrant changing them? Do you know for a fact that the "new" parts were in good working order?
What makes you think the DP is causing a problem?

i dont have a problem or attitude with my car its just that i am a little agrevated right now cause i cant figure out what it is. i did chech the codes, that was the very first thing i did before i started messing with everything, and it gave me codes 22 and 51 which 22 is water temp sensor and 51 is switch signal which says refer to a/c switch signal, a/c switch, a/c amplifier, tps circuit, tps, and ecu. and the new parts i put up do work and are in great working condition cause they came off my parts car i have. and when i took my tps off the little peice that twist would twist but would not twist back into place like it should

When you change the TPS - YOU HAVE TO ADJUST IT - according to the TSRM or you will have all kinds of idling and driving issues.

i adjusted it according to tsrm. it was doing all of this stuff even before i changed these parts. hte car is real hesitant on acceleration, then it finally catches and then its time to shift, i can also here the turbo spool when i give it gas in idle

if you touch the gas pedal while in diag mode you will get a code 51. if you get the code without touching the gas pedal the tps is set wrong.

aside from that- sounds like you have a boost leak. and add to that the water temp sensor failure will make it run like crap too.

ummm FYI that code 22 water temp sensor...will cause the car to have problems starting...and then have problems driving and revving etc until its warmed up completely.... i would start there ;)

ok thanks for the input db. i also get a check engine light when i am driving also. so if your water temp sensor is wrong it will run like crap. is that the one with the green or brown connector on the thermostat housing.

i just changed the temp sensor and it is starting up right and idling right but it is still hesitant under accerleration. i am going to check my filter on my fuel pump another day. maybe thats my problem. cause i have to change my fuel filter like once every week or two. it has like rust in the filter. maybe my filter on my fuel pump is clogged or it has come off

have you reset and checked your codes again? when you fix a car you dont just guess on whats wrong...you diagnose...and pulling codes it the best place to start.

Sounds like you need to clean your tank and get some new filters. That trash will kill your pump.
