:aigo: i think the 1jz is a great engine for autocross quick runs iv'e been looking at the 1jz's for some time and it sounds like a good idea. The reason im going 1jz if i rebuild my na/7m it would be good in numbers but i wan't to have some suport on the bottom end. don't get me wrong as much money i would have to put in makeing a good 600hp 7m i would or could have a 800hp fully built 1jz but right know i have 2 na 7m's one is being rebuilt the others is going 7mge-T is this a good choice?????????? meaning getting the 1jz

for the price of rebuilding a 7M to a reliable stance you could buy a used 1JZ clip from jarco.

Totally rebuilt new motor vs. imported TT used motor..

Get one. Don't look back.

I've heard very few people getting a 1J and needing to rebuild it or the motor just being complete trash.

agreed, but its common good practice to tear it down and inspect

meh, thats you. Me on the other hand when imported from japan and spending $3k on a clip i would rather be on the safe side and inspect things just in case.

it would kind of suck to get a bad egg and it blow up on you shortly after install..

ive constantly thought about going 1J and i still havent decided, but im not sure of the power capabilities with a stock 1J running max possible boost. vs, a built 7M with a bigger turbo.

Although I agree, the insurance is nice, statistics of those that have done 1J swaps over the past 4-5 odd years say it's not really neccesary.

yes and according to the TSRM its not necessary to torque the head bolts on a 7M to 75 ft lbs...

it does not hurt to take the extra time throw the motor on an engien stand and take the oil pan off, inspect the bearings..
