Does anyone actually let the car warm up to operating temp BEFORE actually driving it ?

I understand the car is supposed to do this on its own but Mine doesnt, IACV took a shit or something because it idles 700ish until its warm then wen i boost once its a steady 900 all day.

i can't make much sense out of your statement... are you suggesting that you believe the car is supposed to warm up "on it's own" before it is driven? or while it is being driven?

Depends entirely on the weather.

If it's really cold out I'll let it warm up because I'm a sissy and want the heat going LOL

Rest of the year, start, look for oil pressure, go.

ill give it a few minutes in near freezing temps. Other wise a minute or less.

How long does it take oil to get onto the thrust bearings/wahsers after sitting over night (think strong PP with possibilities of thrust bearing/washer wear)?

I warm it up for as long as it takes my mirror heaters to evaporate the frost, and I'm good to go, that's usually about 2 minutes..

otherwise, 30 seconds max, just to get the oil through the engine...

Did anyone start a car at -40C? it doesn't really drive until 5-10 minutes of warm up time. i know no one lives in this kind of weather besides me, but i do warm up the car until i can't see air i'm breathing out any more. But in LA i do a minute at least.

I see people start cars up and put it in gear and take off all within about 1-2 seconds which is a bad idea, you at least want oil pressure first. Just watch for pressure, after about 5 seconds youre good to go just drive it like any normal person would, then after warmed up drive it like YOU would :D

Yep^^

Think most of it is the lag in the gauge to tell you the truth.

Also, keep in mind even if the motor is up to operating temps, the drivetrain ISN'T, so dont think you can go beat on it.
