"The Rebuild" (with extras)

So as most of you know I spent 8 months last year building and swapping the 7mgte into my supra only to have it, so to say "blow up on me" at the track during the PACNW meet :icon_mad:

What happened was this.....

Somehow this little bastard broke off on me :icon_evil I went to start the car to go home the night of the drags and noticed I had 0 oil pressure. So i quickly turned it off, looked under the hood, and saw 5L of oil laying there on the ground!! Long story short I got it towed home, poured oil in it, quickly started it up, drove it up my steep driveway, got rod knock, kicked it a little, and gave up....

I had the car moved back to my parents house where I could work on it. Started stripping stuff off, and well now it is just a rolling shell.

I have since stitch welded almost every seam in the interior and I am working on the engine bay(pics will be added soon). The car will be getting repainted once it warms up.

I picked up a new block from "Arizzle" with Eagle rods, clevite bearings, and a balanced crank last week. I ordered new pistons for it today and they should be here soon. fortunately the head is fine and MHG is perfect still(old motor was barely broken in at under 600kms).

Anyways enough with the story. I will get some pictures up tomorow if it stops raining and I will keep posted on this build aswell.

I don't think the orange treated you good, seems to do worse than smurf blue.

Seen a few broken like that, it's a good argument for deburring the entire block

Same not the first i seen in 5 years but not really common. Some nice builds have been destroyed by that.

Well I wanted to strip out the car the last build and stitch weld it but couldnt source a welder. The reason I'm doing this is I plan on using it for some drift events and being a Targa I don't want much body twist. There will be a roll bar/half cage going in aswell. This time my old lady suggested I go pink with the block....so I'll see if i wanna listen or not haha. and thanks!

Some pics have been added. Im waiting on the pistons to arrive then the block will go back together.

I put the head back together today after taking it apart and giving everything a thorough cleaning. And I'm trying to get some welding done on the car but its too bloody windy and rainy lately.

So here are some pictures of the stitch welding. They arent the best looking welds but they do the job lol

I took out the headlights for the first time lol and found out they are H4 housings so I'm ordering up an HID kit :icon_bigg

Got a bit more work done on the engine bay today. Got a buddy to come over and help get the paint out of the engine bay. We started with aircraft stripper, which actualy works amazingly well. Then we started sanding the bitch down haha

And at the end of the night this is what she looks like :icon_surp

My buddy knows someone who might have a paintbooth so I'll see if i can get it into there and get the bay painted up a nice black :icon_bigg

I plan on getting more sanding done tomorow so the bay should be pretty much 100% stripped.

Been a while since I've updated so I guess I'll do it now

I have been working on the car, slowly but surely it's comming back together.
I got the engine bay painted...

I decided to keep the coilover tops gold :icon_bigg

I also got the motor in. The lower half has been painted 'Lime Green' and the top is black..

Got the 'LIPP' alternator relocation bracket in there from arizzle..

And the turbo mani and turbo on. Also a shot of the oil filter relocation and the oil cooler and intercooler setup.

I hope to have a transmission in the next few weeks then all I need is injectors and a FFIM :icon_bigg:icon_bigg

Got a bit of work done on the supra today before I have to go to real work lol

I cut out the front bumper so I can fit a turbo-a duct in for moar cooling haha

And heres just checking to see if the bumper cover still fit on there

Should be getting more parts this weekend so there will be more work going on then.
