blahdy blah
alrighty guys... so im sitting here in iraq... and i bought an ls1 with t56 tranny about 2 months ago... come to find out when i went on leave that my buddy is in a supra club and alot of his buddies have the ls1 except most of them are autos. so i did some thinking and some research and i decided to sell my ls11 and t56 so i sold that and got a pretty good amount of money from a guy that owned a salvaged corvette... and about a week ago while i was up in baghdad i went to the PX up there and was lookin at magazines... well i came across a DuPont Registry magazine and sure enough on the cover it had a Dodge Viper SRT-10. so when i got back to tallil i did some lookin around and found a gen RT/10 complete swapp with the 6 speed tranny that i bought for 6,500... it only had 14,000 miles (supposedly) and shipping was a bitch cause it's a complete front clip. so i've decided an 10 Cyl. supra would be good enough for me... so when i get home im gonna get the project together and hopefully complete it before i ETS from the army. so elts hear what you guys think... i know it's off the wall but i like different... i like things that no one has seen... so let me know what you think

thanx guys,
Justin

well tlo86... last i checked the word was custom fabrication? but thanx for your input... and yea... i've got some buddies in the "car biz" one being my dad but i don't need their "skills". i've been working on cars since i was 14 years old when my sister got her first car... and i've been to plenty of classes and have built plenty of cars with my dad to know what im doing... and yes the army pays me well... being an E-5 and married i make plenty of money... it's just sad to see that some people (cough cough) arent cut out for the job. sorry dude... but i appreciate your opinion... and when i get back from iraq... i'll send you pics of the first 10 cyl. supra.

everyone else... i appreciate the support and i'll let you guys know how it goes... i'll even do a how to just in case you guys want to do your own thing... you can read how i did it and start from there!!!

thanx alot guys
Justin

then i stand corrected i think! usually people that post are a much lower ranking than e-5 my bad for assuming ( i guess e-5 get paid a lot more now?). keep me updated, progress etc. dont ever take my opinion to heart just providing an alternative point of view...

in my personal opinion i think you can achieve much more performance wise and that this is just a 'for show or 'see it can be done!' project... again thats just how i see it. and a footnote i never have had much respect on cars that use engines from different companies (thats my bias) $ to power ratio you could have a faster supra, assuming thats your goal with wanting a v-10 in a supra...

sure top secret did the v-12 but was it fast? did it have a lot of power? no and not really. it was a toyota v12 used for limos and cars they make for presidents not for a high powered sports car. and it was also super heavy... and looked like shit.

I personally wont do it for a few reasons, 1- cost of swap and all the fabrication involve 2-The power is easily attainable by a 1j or 2j.

But I don't oppose it.... It has a high "WTF" factor! The rarity of the swap is unheard of. So you got my vote. Shoot I'll drive anywhere just to see it in person.:bigthumb:

same view here pretty much. except ive never liked the rarity factors heh i kind of want to know *why* you want to do a v-10? just because it hasnt been done before? is it for power reasons?

it's for both... yea you can get the same power out of a 1j or 2j but alot of people have 1j's and/or 2j's... how many people have v10's? no one that i know of... my point is... anything is possible... i mean look at the mid-rear engine civic hatch with the LS1... that was unheard of untill someone actually did it... but i just LOVE doing things that have never been done... i like to prove people wrong... of course there's gonna be alot of bloody knuckles involved and the fabricating is gonna be hard and trial and error is gonna play a big factor as far as fabrication that can hold such a heavy engine... but i just LOVE to do it... it makes me feel a whole lot better about my builds knowing that more than half the car i built... know what im sayin... im very excited to get this show on the road... i've only got a little over 5 months left here and when i get home i will begin the build... and when the front clip gets to my house i will have my wife take some pics of it and i will post them up... but i appreciate all the interest in this project... and hopefully this project will be easier than i think it will be... i'll keep you guys posted!!!

Well have fun. It will be an interesting project. Where will you be doing this swap? (state) Also, maybee I missed it, but what gen Supra did you plan to use? MkIII? Money shouldn't be an issue here. I'm guessing you're doing a 1 year over there. E-5 + BAH + BAS x 1 year = Bank Roll. $$$

Sounds like a project to be done only by a real trooper! By the way I see the build will be in NC are you with the 82nd? I'm at Hood 4ID! Just got my 1JZ back but with issues.

Good luck over in the sandbox!

One question, i haven't seen it covered yet, but which body. I am assuming that because it is in the MKIII section, it probably will be a mkIII, but i just wanted to know for sure.

Look two threads up from where you posted.:stickpoke

I'm glad it's going into an MKIII. Not because I hate the MKIV but because I think it would be way too cool in an MKIV and I would have to come all of the way across the country to steel it. Plus I think the MKIII will be more of a surprise. :burnout:
