Alrighty.

I was supposed to leave for BC this morning... had a flight booked from Berlin to Vancouver (over Amsterdam)... but cos this damn Canadian embassy in Berlin is so damn slow, I had to change all my plans.

Now I have a flight for January 17th... hoping that those suckers will get off their lazy asses and tell me if I managed to get into the Working Holiday Program (= 12 months work permit) or not... so maybe this time I can leave in time.

Ok, my rant for today.... I'm sick, I've slept all day and will probably go back to bed soon... I haven't got fever but I feel weak, got headache, have no appetite at all and got certain digestion issues if you know what I mean. To say it with Lanky's words: "ew".
Even worse, I'm on holidays and have to work anyways because one of our clients messed up certain data being automatically imported into one of our databases on a daily basis. So we (read: I) have to do a roll-back and re-import the whole stuff from the last couple of days again manually - not too funny, being sick and all.... :p
Oh well, could be worse. I guess.

I am unsatisfied with a job that I've been doing for over 8 years now, and I have less than 11 months left until I need to decide to leave or not. I am going to make a run for it - I don't need the BS anymore. I'm going to get out, take my G.I. Bill, go to school and grow my hair any damn way I please.
I am going to have to get rid of the Supra sometime this year. It sucks, because I have so many parts and plans for it. I am going to keep all of the parts in hope that they will come to good use someday.
A job that I loved and people that I enjoyed working with - those were the reasons that I decided to re-enlist the first time.

One problem is that when you are in the military, you don't just go to work for 8 hours and go home. In the past 3 months, I've worked more 12+ hour shifts than 9 hour ones. When I first started, it was 7am-3pm. That's an 8-hour shift, and it was rare that we did not leave before 3:30. Now, my night shift works 2pm-11pm. This is a 9-hour shift, and 3 days a week we have mandatory physical training, which is another hour.
This doesn't count all of the before and after-hours phone calls and recalls. It's always nice when they call everyone in at 1am on a Monday morning for an exercise.

Another problem with the military is they become part of your nosey extended family. Imagine a scenario like "Everybody Loves Raymond" where you are constantly surrounded by people who think that your business is their business because they are family, even when the issues don't involve them AT ALL.

That's a good bit of ranting for now. I might be back with more another time. I'm good at it.

Every job sucks, even the ones you think you like from time to time.

Take mine for example.
I love to talk about vehicles and everything associated with them. (Engines, transmissions, emmissions, computers, wheels, brakes yada yadda yadda....)

I really only work 3 or 4 days a week, but I travel almost every week of the year... And it's getting to be difficult to stay home when I'm there. (I'm finding that I like being out on my own 3 or 4 nights a week... This is not good for the family life as you might guess.)

So, like the medic, I'm still here, and doing my job, but I'm tired of the travel, but the job pays the bills for now. (I need to get into something where I'm home all the time, and build on my family relationship more than being gone more than 1/2 the year.)

Far as the Supra goes, I was just driving it last night, in a huge rain storm, and I realized how much I enjoy just driving this car. It shifts well, handles well, and is a great sports car. (Especially since it's paid for.) The stroker motor is running OK, I've replaced the spark plugs and went ahead a got new wires, the moroso ones, and solved my stereo whine in the process. (I guess the NGK's were leaking radio waves that my stereo was picking up.)

I've bought an Ebay stainless exhaust manifold, and I'm going to update my bolt on T4 to a divided exhaust housing, and possibly upsize the compressor and housing there too. (Might have to send it all back to ITS, but if they can get it done for the right price, I'm going to keep this turbo v/s sourcing a GT based one.)

The goal is to have my turbo running with an external waste gate and customize my DP (Again) to fit the new hot side with a V-band style adapter. If anyone is interested, I'm going to have a really good deal on a used bolt on T4 hot side, elbow and the DP flange you will need to make it hook up to an exhaust. (All 3" or better, and thermal coated, ported etc.) I also have a ported and coated stock exhaust manifold that I'd include with the deal. (Basicly, you would just need to buy a stage V T4 based turbo, and bolt it up to this stuff, add the DP back to your catback and your good to go.)

It would not include any of the lines unless I can't use them anymore, in that case, any un-used lines or fittings, will be included with the bolt on parts.

End of rant.

BTW, I'm thinking of buying a BMW Dakar motorcycle. Anyone own one? Likes? Dislikes?

My rant for the day is:

Well, I was sitting in my room, and I just loaded up MGS3 in the PS2 in hopes that I could run through the game on extreme. First off, I have had my PS2 since the first day it came out, and only now is it starting to die on me. My games are mint and they work fine in other PS2's, so I know it's the system itself. For the past month I have had to reset the thing about fifty times untill the laser reader decides to play the game.

Today was the last straw.

After getting the game to work, (after reseting like 30 times) the game finally loaded up and went all the way to the start screen! As luck would have it, I notice there is no title screen music, then I here all kinds of technical crap going on inside my PS2 and the game freezes. Oh great! More reseting! I reset again, and again, and when my anger finally reaches it's limits, I rise up off my bed, raise my fist over my head, and with the full rage of Ares, I rain down death and destruction on my PS2 in one single blow.

The rest of the story is to scary for theaters...

Now, I have to buy another PS2, or actually just wait for the PS3.

That's my rant for the day.

Little rant...
finally got my new rubber, haul it and my wheels over to Les Schwab to get em mounted and balanced...
then they tell me they cant balance them for some reason they didnt feel like explaining.
the hunt begins for a place to balance my wheels!

Lester Slob can't balance them because they did not make the outragous markup on the tires like they wanted too... *Bummer for them.*

Try and find a place with a Hunter force balance machine. They apply a rolling force to the tread contact patch while reading the balance at the hub. This setup will take into account not only weight balance, but also dynamic balace of the tire/wheel and tire carcass construction effects on balance when the tire is actually rolling down the road. (When it matters.)

Every tire has some material/ply/cap overlap. These "thicker points" react differently to the road, and actually cause a slight bounce or wobble to the tire and wheel it's mounted on. (you feel this as vibration in the steering wheel, or car, and in extreme cases, even a perfectly balanced wheel/tire can "feel" terrible, and the tire has to be scrapped if they don't have access to this machine. (And even then, some tires are screw'd from the start, and never can achive proper balance feel.)

Good luck, and I hope you did not end up with a tire they can't balance. Some tire companies are pretty good about it, others are complete assholes. (Hope you paid with your CC, if you did, you have leverage to get a new tire shipped out, so you can mount it and then send the old one back that is defective and will not balance out correctly. Assuming that might be the issue.)

Good luck.

Something like that happened to me. I have had my PS2 since they were brand new. I bought a used copy of Tony Hawk Underground about 2 years ago and I noticed that it would only load every 2nd or 3rd try. It was not a huge deal, I thought, because I bought the game used.
Then I bought a brand new copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the thing would not load, PERIOD! I knew my PS2 was "dying", but in fact, it WAS NOT! I work in electro-optical, so I just took apart the PS2, opened the drive and GENTLY swabbed the laser/lens with an alcohol dipped Q-tip [only a TINY bit of alcohol! Wring it out or dab it until it is just barely moist!]. Then I swabbed it with a couple of dry Q-tips and re-assembled. Everything plays perfect now. Note, that while I was in there I sprayed around with some computer dusting spray, to clean things up.

what pisses me rite off is when you have 2 lanes merging into one and the wanker in front of you (who dosnt know how to merge) stops and waits for a gap in the traffic, meanwhile banking up traffic behind, cars are stopping just in time (this is a 100kph stretch of road btw)
the same asshole who flicks his cigarette out the window and it bounces up on your bonnet, slides up the bonnet and up the windscreen wipers and gets wedged inbetween the wiper arms. When i pulled up next to him he just rolled up his window and stared infront of him while driving 80kph in a 100 zone.So i now have no more loose change, nuts, bolts, washers any small metalic objects in my console. They "fell" out when i overtook him and drove infront of him.I hope i smashed his headlight or crached his windscreen.
Another thing i cant stand is truck drivers that dont secure their load or sweep down the tray after dropping of a load.Wost fear i have is of a truck driving along and loosing a "glut" (block of wood used to keep loads off the ground so a forklift/chains/slings can fit underneith).I saw one roll off the back of a flatbed and go through a windscreen of a car.The truck kept going of course.Another time more recently was a truck (flatbed) went over a join in the road where a bridge spans a railway, then i see a glut start bouncing down his tray, falls off,I swerve into emergency stopping lane, the truck following the truck (that lost its glut) has nowhere to go and runs over it,splinters, chunks of wood go flying and luckyly this time i get away unscathed.
Ive got plenty more to rant on about but i'll keep it bottled up for a rainy day

Never use a white woman as a dating service if you're an Asian male. They can find tons of white guys for Asian girls but you're telling me that there are no single Asian girls or single White girls out there that you can match up for me?
