The best setup for PCV?

Okay, I was wondering what is the best way to set up the PCV. There are a few things to take into consideration. The valve covers need vacuum, so no breathers (had to blow my cam seal to figure out why). The stock route clearly works, but there is a major vacuum leak from the port on the throttle body. What about connecting both lines to the intake, too much vacuum under boost? It just sounds like trouble to me. SO what the best way, I'm trying to eliminate the boost leak, tell me your experience.:icon_razz

Oh, and one more thing, take into consideration that I run MAF-T in blow through, so the OEM would mean I lose unmetered air by routing it pre MAF.

Im thinking about making a catch can and then putting a check valve between the throttle body and the pcv pipes. THe check valve will allow vacume while no boost and then when I do boost the check valve will close and not pressurize the pcv and the turbo will be pulling a vacume on the pcv system

i was thinking the same thing, but then is it too much vacuum on the valve covers?

OH, and is it safe to run the valve cover ports directly into the turbo inlet and cap the port on the throttle body?

no problem. i have no issues with mine at all. :) remember to mount the catch can on the INTAKE side of the motor, so the vapors actually condense! i see way too many people mount it near the turbo, so basically, those vapors are going right in, and right out of their cans... which makes them only for show, and non-functional.

I'm with you shaeff, I'm trying out using this air compressor filter which forces air vapors to condense. Appearantly it is VERY functional. It doesnt look that great, but it is small. Here are a few pics from http://www.pbase.com/rsrock/oil_catch_can

I've used it before but only for a short while before i decided to do my summer project.

What's the purpose of the line off of the throttle body anyway? Extra vacuum for the PCV or what?

during cruising and idling, the port off the throttlebody provides more vacuum then the accordian hose, (or so it seems to pull on my skin more when i touch it)

the accordian hose is always under vacuum, but doesnt seem like as much, although it could be the same amount, or even more...

when you go into positive pressure, the TB port forces air pas the valve cover vent tube, and to the accoridan, like a jet stream which also helps to suck the vapors in the turbo's direction. :)

hott- just make sure that the filter isnt so thick that it prevents A) the vacuum from doing it's job, and B) clogs up superfast, as then you'll be forcing the PCV system to work overtime while trying to vent.

When i got my car, the 2 rubber hoses that attach from that metal hose to the valve covers were too big and i never really thought nothing of it, but i see its not going so well. What diameter hose should i throw on there? before i go into trial and error mode at r.s. strauss tomorrow morning. anyone?

have you opened it up? whats inside?

I have an egay cheapo that looks very similar. I was planning on fabbing up to function somewhat like this (mckinney's):
