Just found my daughter an '88 turbo stored for 17 years - 55K miles, 100% stock. What a drive!! Can't believe I'm not keeping it and dumping my Corolla on her!
Only real flaw is one of the targa top retainers in the truck falls through - I suspect that's common? And the clutch fluid goes dry - still looking for where. But every Toyota with a stick that I've owned (but one) did that.
Looking for guidance right as to what I should be doing. Appears I need to retorque the head. I'm going to replace hoses & belts. Prefer to avoid mods, the last thing she needs is more horsepower. Stereo is begging for upgrade. She wants a short shifter. Are there hard top retainer bolts that are easier to loosen and tighten? I'm told I need to be extremely punctual on oil changes and use synthetic?
Would appreciate input. Will keep my eyes on your posts.
Sincerely,
