The TEWD on cygnus is a 89' version. My question is with all the year differences can it be applied to a 88'?

Most of it is the same. There are minor differences.

There is a 88 wiring diagram floating around I believe too. Also you can buy one from Toyota.

I have the 88 factory repair manual and the EWD. It is better to own if you think you are going to deal with the car yourself.

They're not expensive. Course, it's not worth much unless you know how to read it.
