Something Weird is going on with my TEMS, like sometime at normal setting, it will light up all three lights for HARD sport setting, then alittle later it will come back to only one light lit, any one have this happen to them or is this normal.

Most of the time this occurs at a stop, then as i go probably a few feet it will go back to one ligh, for soft NORMAL.

thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is what you are experiencing, but I know if you brake hard, the TEMS computer automaticaly puts it on the hardest setting. The hardest setting only comes on during hard cornering or braking, unless you did the DIY switch for it. After a couple seconds, it would return to previous setting. Hope that helped.

TEMs functions and connections to TEMs controller:

Anti-squat...TPS (via the ecu)
Anti-dive...brake switch (direct connection)
Anti-roll....steering sensor. (direct connection)
High Speed Firm....speed sensor (direct connection).

Run the TEMS diagnostics to check the sensors

Sounds normal. I bet you brake hard and you're using the normal (as opposed to the sport) mode.
The TEMS actuator will go to hard (3 lights) during hard braking. If I remember, it stays there until you let go of the brakes. Then it will go back to the normal (one light) or sport (two lights) depending on what setting you're using. There is a little delay, about a long second, for it to go back.

Fwiw the TEMs controller has no idea how hard you've applied the brakes as it's only connection to the braking system is the brake light switch. Anti-dive is based on other things but what you see makes it appear to be associated with hard braking. Again, running the TEMs diagnostics will help to pinpoint any problems.

Jetjock, you're probably right. Above certain a speed it does go to firm when you brake and it doesn't matter if you brake hard. But from personal experience I've applied the brakes lightly at high speeds and don't get the firm TEMS. But that might be dependent on my brake light switch. In general, I don't brake much. I always down shift at high speeds and coast before braking to a stop. I probably don't brake until I'm under the 37 mph, so I don't get the firm TEMS.

Anti-dive is derived from the engine ecu, speed sensor, and stop light switch. I forget the exact conditions required but the system is pretty stupid in some ways. For example, for anti-squat all you need to do is add pedal (even slowly) with the key on (engine off) and it'll go firm. Does it based on the TPS alone and doesn't even look at the rate of acceleration or if the engine is running at all. It's not the most sophisticated system out there ;).

If it doesn't go full firm on braking above 37mph then you have a problem. Follow the diagnostic procedure in the TSRM.
