Temp light on

I repaced the water pump, thermostat and the radiator is full of water and the gauge reads a little below center yet my light is on. Does anybody know what would cause this? Thanks

Your talking about the radiator light, right? That only tells you that your low on fluid in the overflow container. If you have filled that then maybe the sensor is broken.

It was low but I refilled it. Do I need to disconnect the battery and reconnect to get this to go away?

no. it should just go away when filled... the sensor in it might be stuck or disconnected or something. If you want you can remove the overflow bottle with like 2 bolt and look in it to see if the floaty thing is loose. just double check its still full too cause the car will suck the fluid out of it when the block and radiator lets out the bubbles from the system.
