ok so im working on a buddies supra and i cant get the temp gauge to work for the life of me. i fixed the temp gauge in my datsun with a little help from a forum. the main reason why im posting this stupid thread is because i was wondering if there are any tricks for the temp gauge kinda like my datsun(IE gauge cluster gets corroded and stops working til you clean the connection). thanks for reading and YES i used the search button.

yeah i did the basic test already. i was just curious if there was any tricks before i tear apart the harness..... i grounded the connector with the car in the ON position and the gauge didnt move. so it looks like i just have to run along the wire and see whats going on.....

ok will do. also, the previous owner said the temp gauge would work for a min if he hit a bump on the passenger side...... thats what makes me think its the harness....

In addition to the connection at the cluster, the other likely culprit is the short pigtail and connector from the harness to the sender in the engine bay. Subject to a lot of heat and vibration over many years can cause it to fail.
