Ok me and my bro went and took a look at a 84 maxima wagon that runs and drives. guy said he would take 400 bucks for it. Sooo the idea is to make a sleeper out of it and put a rb20dte in it with a 5 speed and a 9 inch ford rear:evil2: Any other ideas? i will post pics of it soon.

That would be a sleeper. Though how heavy is that thing? rb20 going to make it go any faster than a civic?

only weight I could find was a sedan, at 3060 or something. so figure about 3200 for the wagon, that's about 134hp/ton (figuring stock rb20@215).
a civic, it's about 2200-ish? guessing a swapped/bpu motor @200hp, yeah, civic'll be way faster.
now a fart can civic with supporting stickers @ 4000whp, pretty sure i'll win.

rb20 seems to be the 1jz of nissan. There are better engines out there, but they are plenty at a really good price. and aftermarket is ripe for cost efficient upgrades. bigger turbo/injectors/maf can get in the neighborhood of 350hp, from what I'm reading.

i would go with the vg30 from a 300zx. depending on year you can get a single turbo or twin. my 84 300xz was a single.

i just think a 4 cyl would be to small for such a heavy car.

I think the cressy wagons look better. But i would never guess that any kind of power would come in that wagon from a sleeper standp point.

Save the 9" money and buy a bigger RB/7M/JZ. From what I've read on HybridZ that motor is not well liked. lol

yeah, reading around that seems to be the case. also, during preliminary research, I didn't consider half cuts. they seem to be reasonably priced, ensure everything needed is there, and have extra "jdm-mad-tyte" parts one could sell to recoup some of the costs.
