Hey guys,
I'm going to get suspension soon. I'm debating on whether to get the TEIN SS or FLEX. Other than being compatible with the EDFC and the package including the upper mounts, what is the difference between the two? Why is the FLEX better? I have the TEIN SS on my NA and I love it!! I was just wondering if I should go with the FLEX or SS for the TT. Thanks for the info ahead of time!!

Flex have always sounded like the best/flagship coilover for the MkIII.

Tein supplies this:

sorry this doesn't help your decision but for one our car comes factory with coilovers. if you want to slam your car and don't car about handling get some lowering springs. if you want to lower your car and care about handling then spend alot of money get some jap coilovers. if you want to lower your car and care about handling and want to save some money get bilstein shocks and these: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339951

I've had both the Flex and the SS. The SS uses your stock upper pillow ball mount, so the right is more quiet. Also, the SS has a lower spring rate, so the ride is softer.

The Flex's height can be adjusted without affecting compression, since the shock body itself could be adjusted, without having to adjust the spring perches. On the other hand, the SS is adjusted via spring perches, so compression is affected when you adjust the height.

if you want a more performance oriented setup, go with the Flex.

Those specs are right, according to Tein's website. I sold Grimjack my Tein SS so I could buy the Flex. The SS were too stiff for my personal comfort.

If I recall correctly, the SS are double the springs rates of stock, and the Flex are half way in between.

I don't want to spend too much, but I want handling and a little bit lowered. I don't want to bottom out every where I go. My friend lowered his so much that his exhaust tore off this past week:nono: So I don't want it slammed, just lowered is fine, but I want really good handling.

Proof they are discontinuing the TEIN FLEX coilovers?

i think they are going to discontinue the Flex coilovers for the MKIII, and introduce the MonoFlex coilovers. i think it was on their japan website.

I had it the other way around, I was not accurate with my previous statement.
Here are the specs from Tein:

Super StreetSpring Rates
895 front, 504 rear

Flex Spring Rates
671 front, 336 rear

It looks like I'm going to have to go with the TEIN SS. :nono:It turns out that this month, TEIN boosted their prices. Talk about boosting!! Last month I could've gotten the FLEX for $1300 shipped. Now I've looked around and the lowest I can find it for is $1700 w/o shipping.:aigo:.... Oh well... I guess it's kinda good. I won't have to put so much on my credit card. ::hang::

PM me if you want me to hit you up with some coilover prices. Tein is pretty good and I was satisfied when I had them. I currently have Stance GR+ and I feel they were better then my Tein's.

I had Tein HA's which are very smiler to the Flex's
