Tein or Megan?

I have narrowed my choices of coilover kits to Tein SS or Megan Street. The Megan setup comes complete with pillowball mounts and would be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the Tein's after I bought the mounts. Does any one have opinions or expereance(SP?) with either?

It's all in the brand name for this comparison. Megan cannot compete with Tein if you ask me. There are plenty of other good quality options to choose from, though. HPF offers several sets of coilovers.

im pretty sure that the Megan coilovers are just copies of the Teins. you get what you pay for, but how hard can it be to just copy an item that has already been developed properly?

this is from experience with friends cars close by... my friends got a 92 turbo MR-2 another friend with an FC3S rx-7 another with an s13 another with an s14 and one with an intgra, and i swear to you within a year to a year and a half at least ONE of the struts blew... all these cars only got to see that track a couple times so hard driving would be ruled out for reasons why they blow, my friend with the mr-2, the tab thats welded on that the endlinks bolt up to, 2 of them broke off AT THE WELDS!!! i was going to go with teins cause they do feel great but after witnessing all these problems on sets that were only a year to 1.5 years old, i'd send my money elsewhere... just my two cents

Might the difference be that the Japanese designed and manufactured the original and the Chinese copied them?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not a big fan of Chinese car parts.

shit i have had my tien flex coilovers for more than 2.5 years so i believe they are the best ou there besides the hks. i believe your friends may not have adjusted lubricated and oiled the coilovers properly. from experience you still need to grease and lube everything up from time to time and adjust from time to time. it's all about maintenance you can repair them and also need to maintane the vehicle also. when you wash a car or run hard after awhile you need th lube everything including the chassis and other suspension and brake components.

haha shit my bad yeah teins were breaking!!! and it wasnt just one set model, all different types, anywhere from ha's to flex's were getting fucked up, and if you read teins warranty, if i remember correctly it says the warranty becomes invalid if the car is STREET DRIVEN... or something along those lines, so basically if its not on a full race/track car you're fucked... someone chime in and correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure i read that on my friends set of FLEX's for his 350

aww cmon now THAT many different cars and you're blaming it on the owner??? no way... these guys all love their cars just like we do here, if its something that could've been prevented i doubt ALL OF THEM missed that step... but like i said, its just my 2 cents

nah man ask your friends if they regularlly lubricated and greased up there chassis, brakes, and suspension. i understand where you are coming from but i do know the regular maintenance and lubrication does help prevent failure and i bet your friends did run their cars hard i do and well i broke a stage three clutch before my tiens went and the clutch only had 3 thousand miles on it. that should tell you how hard i drive my car. here are some pics of the said clutch. you have to pay if ya wanna play and any car can become expensive if you want to play.
