Hey guys, I have a 1987 Turbo,Targa,5speed. I started tearing down my targa top to do a reseal and also paint the top due to minor rusting. I'm not ready to paint the whole car yet, but I am ready to quit getting rained on. Aparently the last owner (maybe two) had the bright idea to silicon the hell out of the stipping to try to fix the problem. They have it so gummed up that the trim pieces on the targa itself are imposible to clean. I was looking at replacing these pieces and am having a hard time locating them. Any suggestions would be appretiated. Thanks

Ahh that's easy mate, Toyota had all the part numbers and you can search here. There's four pieces for replacing the seals.

MK III targa seals

63251-14061 WEATHERST
63252-14032 WEATHERST
62384-14052 WEATHERST
62383-14052 WEATHERST

When I got mine I got them with a discount and it was right around $187, make sure you get plenty of RTV Black.

I think that the OP is asking about the rain gutters on the sides. The ones on my '90 are pretty bad with silicone, too. <grumble>

You can ask at the dealership, or auto glass places, which also can often get them (Though they may not be genuine Toyota parts)

The seals are easy enough to get. Driftmotion sells them.

You may be as well off, or better by finding someone who had a targa parts car and has a spare targa top. (I have a spare top in maroon from an '87 parts car that's in excellent shape. I'm planning to put a sunroof in it. :D )

Yea just got off the phone with the dealer. The rain gutters and trim pieces there are all discontinued. All they have available is the stipping and I allready have the set. but they did tell me that they are 3 seperate pieces per side that I need. Which means mine are glued togehter. Ill try the glass companies in my area though. Id swear I have one of the only supra mkiii's in my area which makes part hunting that much harder. Thanks or the ideas keep them coming.

Yeah that is what he is talking about. Those are not glue or siliconed on by a previous owner. That is factory. You have to remember that years of it heating up in the sun, which melts it a bit, then it hardens again makes it move around a little. Mine was the exact same way when I did my full interior swap. Also I don't know how they are discontinued..... My dealer just gave me a part number and a price and said it might take a few days to get them.

You might have to look around for a junk yard supra
