there was a thread similar to this not long ago, but it was nonetheless different. there is a late '80's early '90's 'vette parked near my house, and i couldn't help but notice it's clear plastic top. it may have been a targa, but i couldn't tell. it was tinted a dark blue/purple and looked sweet.

i want one for my sup'. do these exist? does anyone on here have one? would anyone want to start a groupbuy thing? i can prob get pics tomorrow if there is interest.

in this pic, u can barely see the top i am talking about: '90 vette.jpg

Targa is a trademark owned by Porshe. We do not have a Targa top on the Supras. Ours is a "Sport Roof". Nowhere in Toyota's literature is it called a "Targa".

The same goes for the Vette. The Vette was available in both "T" and sport roof configurations (as well as hard top and drop top).

The Del Sol also has a sport roof.

What if WeezL could make a lexan/safety glass cover for his targa brace? (WeezL Wings)

Didnt want to spill the beans before they were cooked...but Im looking into that already. I was planning on making 2 versions of covers for the WeezWings. One will be out of canvas, and look alot like a convertable top. When not in use you can just roll it up and stow it. The second would be a hard top of some description, and I was toying with lexan or fiberglass, or a combination of the two. Anything I do wont be until winter at the earliest.

I would *love* a Lexan Targa, as long as I had some sort of cloth/vinyl/fiberglass/whatever shield I could put in from the inside, for those hot ass Florida summer days :D

Still looking for resources for this. I have ZERO experience with Lexan and only a little bit more than that with Fiberglass. Too be honest I wouldnt expect anything like this out of me until after I have shipped a bunch more 'Wings. I would say were talking at least 3 months for me to get a commercially acceptable product.

Especially where a brace is involved, a Lexan cover would be ideal. Tinted even moreso...
My basic idea if I ever get a targa supra, is to make myself a brace, much like the one that ProjectSupra made, a molded Lexan/acrylic cover, and attaches with Dzus Fasteners.

Hmm interesting bit of information.

Lexan top would be sweet, like a full span moonroof.
