Tapping/knocking noise When Accel

I remember my car would make a tapping noise sometimes when It was at low RPM (1300) up this hill. Tonihgt I came up the hill, My engine kinda cold still and I heard the Low Rpm tapping noise and it does it consistently now. It's not very loud and It happens when I rev it and sparatically between 1300-2300 Rpm. ? :icon_evil I FUCKING HATE 7M'S:icon_evil

Have you checked your oil?

Maybe valve tapping or rodknock.

I got the same thing. On my last supra it was easy to diagnos rod knock because it was loud as hell and shook the whole car. This is alot different. I only hear it when revving hard, and it dies out above 3000rpms. My brother says "it sounds like a woodpecker in your engine." I can't think of anything else it'd be besides rodknock. Gonna have to get out the stethescope :<

nope same thing here currently having this problem. unless he said it only happens at full throttle, it's knock. perfect oppurtunity for engine upgrade:naughty:

To thoroughly fix it, you have to take the whole engine apart and examine the crank to see which cylinders are knocking and rebuild from there.

But people will say since you have everything apart, you might as well do the whole thing, so something small becomes a large project.

That depends on who will be doing the work. You? Joe's fish, chips, and auto's? Or the Dealership? You can call he stealership and ask them what they would charge you just to replace the rod bearings. Same goes for the small service garage guys. Or you can try and tackle it yourself and just pay for parts & machining if necessary.
