hmm now i know that we posted this not even a week ago.

<-- checks to see if SM crashed, nope. Search still works

but IJ is right

12mmx1.25

Sears does not carry and more than likely no autopart store will carry it. You need to special order it :)

Edit: I read "exhaust threads" by mistake! My bad. The info below is ONLY for exhaust threads.

mcmaster-carr is awesome for this stuff! I just did this a couple months ago.

Here's the info:
mcmaster.com
Part # 91732A822 for the repair kit which gives you everything to tap the holes (plus a couple inserts but I don't recommend them since they're non-locking)
Part # 90296A343 for authentic helicoil screw-lock inserts

Have fun!

ummm

we need a tap to CLEAN the threads in the BLOCK NOT to enlarge them!!

Anyway most taps will not put a dent on the cast IRON block. Especially the cheap shit. If it is not High Speed Steel (HSS) it WILL break.

I come from a land down under
7M's have a bad habit of cracking the block between the Headbolt Holes and the steam holes after being surfaced if the holes aren't chased and then chamfered during a rebuild.

The idea of a chaser is it doesn't remove material just the crap in the hole, a Tap will do the same thing if you're very careful and use lots of wd40 or crc and keep an even load on both sides of the Tap Handle (NOT use a wrench to turn the Tap)
