I have a 1987 Turbo. I installed a Tanabe medalion Exhaust bolted to a LIPP elbow and the down pipe is touching the flooboard near the speedometer cable and at the rear end cross member. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

I have the Tanabe Hyper Medallion, a Random technology downpipe and the LIPP elbow. The exhaust was originally installed in my '89, and is now in the '90. No problems with clearance, using 3 hangers in the back. (The RT downpipe has no provision to use the front hangar by the transmission mount.)

The front hanger is pretty critical and it's a simple flange that can be swapped over.

I went with a ebay y-pipe 3" and had a similar issue, not sure if the MK4 engine mounts or the RK crossmember bushings has anything to do with it..

but my DP will need to be lengthened in the upward pointed section, 2 flange widths, roughly 1.5"... I ended up taping flanges onto flanges just so I could eyeball fit it and measure the difference needed.

sounds like a similar problem to yours...

I seem to remember the hyper touring medallion being a bit too short as well... Dunno why, but most people used longer test pipes or cats.

Mine is the Tanabe Medallion but I'm not sure if it's the hyper medallion. The downpipe does not go Down far enough making the piping hit the foorboard and it his the rear end support. I am at the muffler shop getting it modified. Bolt on my *ss!

Hyper medallion has laser etching on the side saying hyper medallion. It also has a straight cut tip. The touring has a rolled tip.
