Aristo JDM 2jzgte into an 87' mk3.
Everything works great. Only the tacho is not working...what the f@@k?
It's my 2nd 2jz swap into a mk3 supra.
From the E10 plug (2jz ecu) pin 16 I get the TACHO signal and send it into mk3 plug M1 pin 4
which is a 'B' (black) wire that goes to the tachometer of the stock MA70's gauge cluster.
The car idles normaly and it reads ' 0 ' RPM :aigo:

Anybody had a similar problem?
What should I check/where to look at? ... igniter maybe?

In cases like this, I've run the tach signal from the check connector and it has always worked form me. Open the check connector cover and you will see the tach signal and run the wire from it. IG1 Pin.

His car was NA / Auto, but he does have an auto - turbo gauge cluster now!
His tacho was working fine when he swapped the 7M-GTE in though...

The closest match for the tach to work is the 1JZ-GTE because the both use the same ignitor modual and signal
The JZ engines use a digital pulse singal to drive the tach.

The 7Ms usa more of an analog signal so they net a different voltage to drive the tach signal to the meter.
The second closest of the tachs is the 7MGTE because the 7MGTE uses a more hybred system of both distributorless ignitor signals.
There is different results from the 7MGTE tach so its not a end all.
The 7M uses the distributor still so it would be the least compatable.

One other thing I have not mentioned is the 1G tach it is compatable to the JZ engines also it uses the same ignitor signals however it goes clear up to 9000RPMS Perfect for high reving 1JZs
I bought the tach from Zoonwen a couple years ago & its still in the cluster I just dont think I will use it because I have a custom Defi Racer Blue guage cluster alongh with a LCD panel running from the standalone.
It would be a waste to destroy a 1G gauge for a custom cluster is my logic.

Otherthings that might work is the TRD 10K tach it also uses JZ tach signals.

Hey...It worked!
IG1 pin from the check box 'gave life' to the tachometer.
Thanks

So do you replace the wire going to IG1 pin 11 with the wire you run from the IG- diagnostic port or just tap into it, leaving the original wire in place?

Ahh crap just noticed thread was started for 2J I have a 1JZ, is it any different for the two motors?
