T4 turbo to manifold stud question.

Can I use studs and nuts like this to mount the turbo to the manifold? The stud will pass through the turbo and thread through the manifold. Will it hold, or just shake loose after time? Would I need to get bolts that would thread through the bottom of manifold up, and mount the turbo on top?

BTW, I'm just test fitting these old studs. I'm going to get new ones. I know I need a gasket between the turbo and manifold.

I did think about welding the studs to the manifold, but decided not to. The manifold is already tapped. It's 10X1.25 I believe. The stud threads into it. Just slip the turbo on top and torque the nut down.

Yeah. Will it hold, or will the stud thread itself out.

The stud shouldn't back out. The nut might come loose though if you don't use locknuts.

I'll try to get those lock nuts. I'm going to have to go to one of those nuts and bolts hardware stores. Napa & Oreily's didn't have them. Will lock washers with regular nuts do? Just in case.

If they're m10x1.25 just order in a bunch of 7M exhaust nuts they're quite techie and worth the price.

I hate 7m exhaust bolts/nuts. They rust in like 2 hrs..

I bought some high grade bolts from www.boltdepot.com with a shiny finish and I love them

Exactly what you don't need/want on a Turbo Engine exhaust due to the massive expansion of the Iron/Steel parts when glowing red, Hi Tensile bolts often fail or pull the threads out of the Aluminium parts where a softer bolt will expand/contract.

High grade = bad even if I'm buying the same grade bolt/nut for the turbo?

I need to make a list of what I need and order it all at one time from Champion Toyota. I'll include all new studs with lock nuts. Thank again for all the info guys.
