87 7mge manual/harness/ecu into 89 turbo automatic shell. wouldn't turn over do to not having a clutch switch so I bypassed it with a pushstart button. The problem is my car dry starts every morning, takes about 3 cranks to kick over. I also noticed my FP turns on as soon as my key is on the on position.

Fuel pumps do that. Does it turn off after it builds pressure though?

nope, it just keeps running. probably something to do with the wires I repinned oh the harness..

Actually, the fuel pump on a 7M-GE shouldn't start running when the key is in the "on" position without air moving through the AFM. The FC switch is open until air moves the vane and thus the switch.

Look over your wiring for modifications and shorts.

Alex's mistake is understandable... our systems are an exception and ours do prime in the "on" position for a couple seconds.

Keeping an eye on me heh,:biglaugh: I also have a upgraded pump and FPR and you can hear it. The FPR will bleed off pressure when it sits over time, takes a few seconds to build pressure and shut the pump off. Forgot the stock FPR doesn't bleed off.

Just thought of something, have you had it running at all since the swap? Check to make sure your ECU ground wires under the intake manifold are connected, they will reach the starter and a few have connected them to the starter and the FP will run all the time but it will not start.

I believe you can bypass the clutch switch with a jumper instead of the push button.

As far as the fuel system bleeding down over night, I wouldn't worry about it much. The fpr only regulates fuel pressure with the engine running. The only way it would effect pressure bleed off after you've turned the motor off is if its leaking. If it is, there will be fuel in the vacuum line that goes to it, and you'll be running rich(black smoke).
