I have been looking at these turbos and got my eye on a 54 trim with big shaft for 1700.. I am about to have my motor rebuilt, but am not going with new forged rods. I am just going with a .20 over setup with a mhg upgrade, arp studs and possibly a 3 angle valve job. I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with these turbos with a motor that doesn't have a BULLETPROOF lower end. Now I know that I will have to upgrade the fuel pump and AFPR. But other than that, what else would be needed to not BLOW my motor. I am only looking to hit about 450rwhp, so I am not looking to boost the crap out of the motor for like 800rwhp.

I believe those turbos are good for some good numbers and boost is addictive. If you are going to build a motor that it going to be running close to 400rwhp or higher why not build it to handle more. Think of it like this if you have turbo that peaks at 20psi and you run it at 20psi every day it might not last that long so get a turbo that can run 30psi or so and run it at 20psi I would imagine it might last a bit longer the same goes for your motor. I am sure you don’t want to be living in fear that ya motor might hanging on for dear life every time you floor it:evil2:

if you got the motor apart, just use stock rods with arp hardward. have them race-prepped, beam polished, balanced, etc..

been running over 500rwhp for the past 1.5yrs on my setup with the boss turbo.

i was running 35psi yesterday (by accident) and man it sure felt good

LOL thanks for the input guys. I got quoted 1800 to have the motor rebuilt minus the ARP hardware. The hardware will only add like 300 or so. They include everything new except the rods, which they only replace if they fail inspection, and they bore the block 20 over and put new pistons on and add a mhg. I didnt really ask what all intailed for the head. I dont plan on boosting the crap out of my motor really, just enough to get me in the 400s. That should be somewhere around in the vicinity of 15-20psi if I am correct
