i'm pretty sure the supra rivaled the corvette and 300zx in the late 80's and early 90's. any others?

if you had the choice today, which car would you have? try to be unbiased!:aigo:

CLEARLY, the supra is the best of the bunch.:biglaugh:

also, what was the price for a new supra?

Supra is the nicest of the bunch but not the fastest.. Read the reviews and comparo's of the time. Supra scored high on ammenities but was constantly beat out on performance by Corvette, RX-7 and 300ZX. All turbo variants for the latter.

A new supra ran around 2*,000$. so around 40-50k now.

I have had a 5.0 Mustang and many Supras. They certainly are not real competitors in price or what the manufacturer was trying to put out.

The 300ZX of the 80's is no match for the Supra. I beat their asses with my n/A's.

The Supra was an all around car, a blend of muscle and manners. To be quite honest, nothing else really did that for the money.

Car and Driver called it a Porsche 928 with a $50,000 rebate. A Motor Trend review specifically called it "Muscle meets manners" in a short take.

Not fair. Your comparison should include the 90+ 300ZX twin turbo, the 88-92 RX7, and the 91+ 3000GT VR4.

Back when the 300zx came out in 91 or 92 A brand new Supra cost $33K. I test drove both. I didnt like the 300zx interior... felt like my dads car... I drove the supra... it fit like i $33K glove!!!! Problem was.. I didnt have $33K..

No, as you must use generational cars. 3000GT and 300ZXTT go against the JZA80.

Think of the "Old School Shootout" in SSC. They did it wrong too.

The RX7 from the lates 80's is fine though.

I tell friends about this all the time. 90's Japanese Twin turbo supercars. Its always about price tho.

JZA80 is the ONLY supercar fromt he 90's that still holds value... 30k.. for a 10 year old car...

Next comes the RX-7 TT. Maybe 15~k for one

Then the 300zxTT. Maybe around 10k.

Then the poor 3000GT VR-4. Get em for 6k if you look right.

Aye, if you're gonna compare it its gonna be the ma70, the z31, and the fc -- all turbo models of course.

Eh, tough call, as their development cycles were staggered.
If you say, "What was the Supra's competition from 1986-1993?", we have to include everything up to 1993.
If you say, "What was the Supra's competition in 1986?", ... well nothing.

according to wikipedia, the 1990-1994 mitsubishi eclipse rivaled the supra closely. i dont really think the eclipse had a chance, but wikipedia is always reliable.

i think generations should be compared, not year. for example, mk4 should be compared with the 300zx TT.

sometimes campanies wont keep up with their competitiors b/c they feel it isn't best for profit, so i dont think it is fair to compare yearly. this is my theory, anyway.

I agree when with the people whoa re saying generations not years. Also, the window sticker says my car cost 26,790 before tax and all that in 1989.
