Supra Turbo fan clutch questions

I recently picked up a used Turbo Fan Clutch to rebuild. My question is I've heard that Turbo fan clutches are supposed to be bigger is size compared to N/A fan clutches. However from the pile of fan clutches I had to choose from I compared the turbo fan clutch I got to a N/A clutch and noted no differences what so ever. Other than the 10 blade vs 7 blade and the colour on the mounting portion being different (blue for non turbo and orange for turbo) I noted no size difference or any difference at all as a matter of fact. What I did find though was a few other turbo supra owners I was with at TX2K10 who had purchased new Toyota fan clutches. Those clutches they bought were bigger in size and had more fins on it than the turbo fan clutch I had. Did Toyota redesign the fan clutch for the turbo supra? Mind you I went through a pile of about 5-6 fan clutches and I found N/A and turbo other than the colour they weren't different.

My Autozone replacement thats on my car right now is smaller than this clutch in the pictures. I was looking at every Supra Turbo at TX2K10 and they all had the same clutch posted in the pics. Except for the ones that bought a brand new clutch from Toyota. Like i said those were noticibly different. I am curious though if Toyota did redesign the clutch or listed a bigger clutch under its P/N?

Like was said there were 2 different GE clutches, and 3 different GTE clutches.

16210-42030 - Early 87 7M-GTE (Obsolete)
16210-42050 - Late 87-88 7M-GTE (Obsolete - 1 still in Toronto warehouse)
16210-42070 - 89-92 7M-GTE (Still Available)

16210-42040 - Pre-89 7M-GE (Still Available)
16210-42060 - 89+ 7M-GE (Still Available)

As for which ones are which and which ones are what size and what the differences are, I cannot answer these questions. At this point however, you really cannot be sure a clutch you pull off of a car is the original clutch that came on the car, and with 2 of the 3 types of 7M-GTE clutch obsolete, getting a hold of some new ones to compare is not likely to happen either.

So i take it the 89-92 Fan Clutches are the better cooling fan clutches of the bunch vs. the 87-88 7MGTE fan clutches? Now that i have the one that i have i wonder if its worthwhile to even rebuild it or to just bite the bullet and get a brand new fan clutch.
