after trying the cps and timing she still doesnt want to live i'm actually pretty scared she starts but dies straight away unless i press on the gas a little but when i do she revs up all by her self for a seccond or 2 then dies.

more worring is the fact that sometimes when starting i get a pop and blue smoke from the engine bay people say its from around cylinder 6.

also when she does run she misfires.

good times

can anyone shed any light before i kill myself?

i'll post a video later today of her trying might get some smoke ya never know.

also the spark plugs are jet black when i look at them. hmmmm

did you follow all the tsrm steps?? if not do that ...i am having the same problem right now...she just wont get right. go get a timing light and do it right...that seems to be the only way...im gonna try again when i get off today at 5...ill post here and on my thread...let me know how your turns out cause if ya fix it its probly somethin i can do....are your spark plugs the origanal? make sure your starting with good plugs and wires before you go setting timing...it could just be arcing or not sparking on a fowled plug.....

Sounds like it's flooding out from too much fuel. Do you have any way to adjust the fuel pressure? Are you getting any codes at all? Did this just happen or were you fixing something else when this started?

well it was after a mhg fitting. i tried starting it and found out the smoke and pop is coming from the injector area's do u think the garage have forgotten to put an O ring on the injectors? this would also explain the misfire

afm seems fine the thing i most worry about is the pop and the smoke from injectors. thats whats stumping me the most at the min. cheers for the replys though i shall double check timing. but when i did the cps and things it stopped the popping from the exhaust just not the engine bay.

Check for engine error codes. I've had the same problem, without the engine popping, from a bad AFM.

easy way to see if injectors are leaking is to jump the fuel pump using check connector and see if they leak.

other than that is sounds like your timing is off....

i got mine runnin good...it was my fault the whole time i think...and buy cheap spark plugs...no point in wasting money on good ones unless you got good wires and /or coil. my autolites are workin great now...

I have the same thing as shima indicated the just wont idle and popping sound from the injectors too. I checked the timing when i was able to get the car warmed it has new plugs and injectors. check the cps its within range ohm wise i check the coil same thing within spec and afm. I also just did me bhg just recently will a vacuum leak do this? I check I have a cracked on my accordian and if I rev the engine pass 3-4k mark I here these whistling sound coming from the isc might be a bad gasket will check there. If someone has the same experience and solved the problem will be helpful.

i recently had the same issue after a mhg job. My motor timing was on and was stumped. It turned out that the cps sensor was not set properly. set your motor to tdc. on the left side facing from the front of your car you will see a small plastic cover. remove it. the sensor has a clear line up pin or small peace of metal coming off it. make sure the half circle side of the sensor is pointing to the left. This hopefully will fix your problem.

i checked my cps per other post that's how my cps was lined up with the marks the pointer should be pointing at the 1 o clock magnet right? if i'm off one tooth its a big difference. I did check my timing its set to 10 degrees. I am still stumped at this point

check your CPS wiring,, the male to female clip usualy fails,, i had that problem on my car i just cut out the clip and connected all the wiring up and that fixed it. but when the wiring was bad the car would either not start sometimes, or would start and have terrible idle and just die. i'v also had bad AFM's give me the same problem..
