Hello everyone. The goal with my supra is to build a 400+rwhp daily driver for my summers. The supra has to be reliable because I drive about 100 miles/day, and so I don’t want to go crazy with mods, but I want it to be enjoyable for my spirited driving style. Being in NH, most of the roads I drive are a compilation of winding roads, with plenty of passing zones.

I bought the car with a blown head gasket and an abused motor with a near dead turbo about 4 years ago off of the second owner who lived in South Carolina. Somehow, I was able to drive the 800 miles home without it dying (only overheating 2x). Since the motor was unfixable, I bought a remanufactured 7M-GTE motor from Toyota with a ton of new parts (hoses, wiring, gaskets). The rest of the car had 92k miles on it. Since then I have slowly built the car, trying to do it right the first time without putting the turbo/motor at risk. I’m going for drivability, and longevity with this one.

I'm looking to do bodywork and repaint next winter (Dec 2011). I am considering some body kits...but I want to keep it really close to stock so nothing major.

Perhaps the MA70 front lip from Suprasport: http://www.suprasport.com/JDM-MKIII-..._p_705.htmland

With the stock rear bumper. Any feedback?

Definitely a sweet daily

Thanks. It's not bad now as it is, but I want to further impress all the other local Subaru/Mustang/Honda tuners in the area...and have some additional performance to keep up with my brother's MK4 when we do our mountain circuit runs. Plus I love working on the Supras.

So are you going to build that motor or do a swap?

I'm going to build the 7m that's in there. The engine is basically brand new. I was torn in doing the IJ swap in the beginning, and decided to stick with the 7m mainly because I never had big interests in going over 350/400hp.

Hello everyone. I just ordered up a bunch of parts....and will install them next week unless any red flags are raised.

Here's what's going on the car next week:
HKS 2.0 Stopper Gasket and ARP's

Here's what's ordered and will be put on next week as well:
AEM True Boost Controller
AEM Oild Gauge
HKS Fuel Cut Defender <<Edit: decided not to go this route>>

Here's what I plan to do:
Install the 3 ordered parts, set boost to 12psi and leave until next set of mods...

Here's my questions:
Is the Fuel Cut Defender Okay to put on as long as I don't boost past 12psi
Am I alright with doing all this without a tune?
Any red flags with this setup?

Thanks!

Sounds good. I'm more a fan of the 1j but thats me and you stated the engine is basically new so you should have a good base line for a build and 350 shouldn't be a hard task to get to with that motor so glw the build

Whats a jdm bronze tinted windshield?

It's the Supra windshield that is dark toward the top, and fades lighter as it gets into the vision of the driver. From what the dealer said, it was an option for the turbo car, and costs the purchaser an extra 2k at original purchase.

There are none in the U.S., I ordered one from Japan and the whole $4500 was covered under glass insurance lol. At the time, it was insured as a special interest vehicle, and basically anything that happened to it was 100% covered by the insurance company.

BoV install incorrect:One of the members said the BoV is installed incorrectly. I'll be looking into this...prob switch vaccuum lines etc etc. On testing, it does not seem to let out air when engine is given throttle. The picture below shows what the recirc valve is hooked up to. Any quick suggestions or whatever are welcome while I trouble shoot this minor thing.

Yeah it was Liberty Mutual insurance plan I grandfathered into via marriage. They don't do this policy anymore unless you maintain the policy.

It worked out for me in this case, saved me thousands of dollars...

The goals are still the same...although I have been working on doing the necessary upgrades to the auto tranny before I start pushing the psi much above 8 (although I have pushed 10 on the highway a few times...oh well). The tranny cooler will probably wait until this winter for when i take off my bumper for the new FMIC and piping....

The power mods should be finished by next year, then I'm working on some final maintenence things and the interior, then I'm going to do the body and have a repaint...only if I had the cash to do it all now...but I now have my first baby on the way...i forsee this project slowing down after my first is born.

This year's project updated (see first post for bolded info and pic links).

I have to say, with the Lex/550's/afpr/wideband upgrade, this car really is a beast. I can almost (almost to the point where he doesn't just pull away that is) keep up with my brother's BPU 97TT (440whp). Running 14-15 psi atm until I get MAFT Pro or SAFCII to tune.

---------- Post added at 12:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:58 AM ----------

Now my 2nd gear on the a340e is slipping...

I'm looking into local Tranny Shops and doing research on a built tranny. This is a daily, so going GM 3 speeds (TH350 or whatever) is not ideal. I am thinking of Import Performance Transmission Kit or Tranny replacement (http://www.importperformancetrans.com/toyotaauto.shtml). I'll let you know what I figure out within the next month or so...

-------------------

I've also been thinking about body kits. I want to keep it really close to stock so nothing major.

Perhaps the MA70 front lip from Suprasport: http://www.suprasport.com/JDM-MKIII-Supra-A70-Spec-G-Lip-Spoiler-Body-Kit-_p_705.htmland

skip the safc, and go with the maftpro, ditching the lex afm in the process definitly helps with getting car to run better, with the maft you wont need to really worry about boost cut, I was running 18psi daily and boost creeped upto 22 psi here and there. the speed density conversion was great and after you tune your throttle trim you will have a pretty snappy throttle. You can do so much more with the maft than safc, and for all of the work of wiring in a safc just wait it out till you go maftpro

Good advice. I've lined up the Maft Pro for the spring and the best tuner in the region. I'm shooting for 370whp at 18psi on the 50 trim CT26. After talking with Aaron at DM, I might very well upgrade to a 57 trim to jump the final leg to 400whp on lower psi and a conservative tune in 2012.
