sooooo... i'm putting the brackets and re riveting them back into my rear bumper and i've lost mine... so i take off round the back and get some from the 89+ bumpers... sweet
go to line them up and put the bolts in so i can rivet them in and i couldn't get those suckers to line up properly :icon_conf

so i pull em out and compare them to some rusty as ones i couldn't be bothered getting the broken bolts out and cleanin em up...

so put em side by side.. and 89+ appears to be about 1/2" wider :3d_frown:
so i had to clean the other ones and get the broken bolts out.. took dam ages lol

so yea... i think the actual bumpers are an inch different in width

i would suspect jdm cars had the narrowbody rear bumper till 88 then 89+ got the widebody, even tho 87 is widebody

Not quite, there was narrowbody and widebody offered for both pre-89 and 89+.

I'll post the exact stuff later.

I only have Japan's EPC. So my info will be from Japan.

It totally depends on the year/model.

No 86 MK3's were widebody in Japan.

No 87-88 GA70's were widebody in Japan.

Starting in mid-87 (1/87) the MA70 GT Limited was introduced, it was widebody, all other MA70's were still narrowbody.

Starting in 89, all MA70's were widebody, and the GA70 had the widebody option (not sure which model(s) had it).

After 1990, the MA70 was dropped and the JZA70 was introduced, which was only available as widebody.

The GA70 is listed as narrowbody optional until the A70 ceased production in 1993.

EDIT: Oh, and no, that part was different for pre-89 widebody cars, as well as 89+ widebody cars.
