Stupid question time: 1JZ rebuild

This is probably really dumb but I'm still gonna ask:
Since I'm leaving the stock twins on my 1JZ swap until spring, when I'm gonna pull the engine out again to anyways to go single, should I not bother with tearing the whole engine down and doing the whole gasket/seal replacement kit now and just wait until spring so I can do it all at once?
I feel I already know the answer but figured I would ask...

Havnt touches mine other than gaskets and t belt.

Don't need to pull motor to remove the twins either. Tho it is easier you'll take more time removing the motor and installing it than to just remove the twins.

I changed all the gaskets and seals on mine (but forgot to do a couple old ass rubber hoses, that came back to bite me), checked the bearings, cleaned everything up, and have been driving it daily for over 3 years now.

Personally, if you have another car to drive, why not just start the process now, and take your time with it? This also has the benefit of allowing you to save up money if your teardown reveals anything that you weren't expecting... If you can't spare the time, then drive it for now as long as it is running good. At the very least change out the fluids.

Was gonna start with just the fluids, belts, and spark plugs. I am even gonna skip putting AC on until spring. The whole reason I can't take as long as I like is 1: I'm paying per day for storage and 2: my girl is gonna be stealing my truck when she sells her car this month. And since I wanna pull the engine again when I go single, I figure I might as well redo everything then including swap to 440's... Am I crazy or does this sound like a better plan?

yhatzee89, why in the world would you pull the motor right now and rebuild it and put something back on, just to pull them back off in a few months to put something else new on there? Sounds like a huge waste of time to me. Buy hey, in the end it's your car.

No I'm saying skip the rebuild right now and wait until later, and rebuild when I go single turbo. So right now just worry about the swap then in the spring worry about the rebuild/single setup

I wouldn't rebuild period unless the thing is low on compression or using oil. Or unless of course you're looking to become 3 liters or greater.

The big single conversion however I wouldn't wait for.

Aside from any gasket or seal you compromise, I would follow the "If it ain't broke..." logic here with the 1J engine, unless you've got something in mind beyond 'sane' power levels. If you have the drivetrain out of the car, by all means now is the time to give it a good check... thinking front and rear main seals, cam seals, valve cover gaskets...
Just establish what you don't want to do twice....ie. pull the engine... Twin removal in-car is horrid.

I looked at it as more of a "hey, here's what you're facing on an in-car removal", certainly helpful, thanks for sharing, even if it was for a Soarer/SC.

I voted Rebuild Now, but don't really think you need to rebuild it. Just replace the gaskets and hoses now while you're at it!

I would rebuild everything now just so that come spring the car is done and you can enjoy it in the summer
