Ok, boys and girls....here's a good one for ya !!!

While trying to remove the large water outlet pipe in the rear of the cylinder head, it snapped in half. I managed to cut out the remaining pieces with a jigsaw and chisel. I had a spare threaded pipe from a garbage head that I figured I would use. However, the threads (in the head) are so messed up and galled from trying to remove the original water pipe that they are basically stripped and the new pipe won't thread in. Any ideas on a fix for this? The engine is almost completely assembled with the head on and torqued. I really don't want to have to take it back apart. I'm sure that some of you guys have had this incredible misfortune before....so what did you do?

You can buy something and redo the threads. They sell the kits at Advanced or any other auto parts store. Good luck. It shouldn't be too hard to fix.

I don't think rethreading it will work since the threads are pretty much gone. I don't think they sell heli-coils that big either.

I was told by JetJock not to use the jbweld, so if I was you I wouldn't. You can probably find some other threads and recuce it down or something. I had to add fittings into my block where the oil feed for the turbo goes in. I think you'll be able to handle it. Good luck.

I reference the Sailor's Guide to Curses and Profanity every time I work on a car, weld, use a lathe, use a mill, or stub my toe getting out of bed.

I would take it to a machine shop. They will be able to figure it out for you.

Lol, since when does anyone listen to me? JB Weld has it's place but imho not on hot parts like engines. It's seriously ghetto and usually will come back to haunt you.

I know this doesn't help any but learning not to bust things in the first place is the key. It's easier said then done though....comes with experience. Two lessons I learned early on are to use a light touch and never try to "save" time by using the wrong tool or being to lazy to get the right one. Every time you start to struggle, or do something that doesn't feel right, the bell should go off in your head.

For what it's worth JJ, if you say don't do it, I'm not doing it. There are a handful of people on here that really know their stuff when it comes to supras. Until I'm one of those people, I'm taking everything you say as gospel.

Yellow, I used to try and force things, until I got mad and kicked a sliding glass door one day. Had to have two surgeries, and was off work for about three months. That sucks when you work for yourself and have no income. Since that day I still get mad, but I'm able to control it just a little more............lol

Plese don't make me angry.........You wouldn't like me when I'm angry..........;)

I used to never miss The Incredible Hulk. I remember like it was yesterday. It was actually twenty eight years ago. A man and woman adopted me and my brother and two sisters all back together. We had been in different foster homes. Anyways it was a friday night, and The Incredible Hulk came on. I don't know why that one memory has stuck with me so long..................I guess it's because I hadn't seen my brother and sisters for a while...............lol
