Strategy to Remove C-Clamp?

Damn yo... I have been trying to remove the C-clamp out of a pipe with an hks bov attached to it so I can put it on my hks bov pipe. I have tried every type of plier known to man and it just keeps slipping out before I can fully compress the clamp.

Any thoughts or tips so I can get this damn thing off?

Yea that Is a really big snap ring. You need a set of heavy duty snapring pliers and a friend to help you. The good snapring pliers have several heads at different angles. You will need the short 90 degree set and may have to file a grove right before the curve to help it grab the ring better. You will need a brave friend to hold and pull when necessary... I did it by myself and it was no fun.

Lol, praying to God may help....cursing sure didn't. The curve I refered to is on the snap ring plier tips. You get the 90 degree tips and file a grove before the ends and after the 90deg curve to give the snap ring something to hold onto so it won't slip off.

have you tried removing the HKS bov cover? the front of the cover (where the air comes out) has a bunch of allen key screws, take those off, and you have alot more room to work.

Well I broke a pair of snap ring pliers already and had to get another one. I can get the snap ring fully compressed where the end fully touch each other, but after this, the things doesn't want to come out.

That is what the friend is for! Remove the bov housing if you need more clearance, and get your brave buddy with a small flathead to pop the ring out. If your snapring pliers broke they were either the wrong size or a cheapo set. Snapon is my preferance when it comes to tools.

I did this just a few weeks ago myself.

Take the housing off.

I use a set with interchageble inserts, I used the straight ones as they had the thickest ends to them, I kinda brokes a skinnier one trying to get the snap ring off...

Once I got the ring fully compressed I just wiggled the BOV a little and it came right off the flange.
