I originally thought that the 1jz came with twins that had ceramic turbines. But my mechanic thats doing my 1j swap for me says that theres 2 gens of the 1jz and that the latest one (or the early one...cant remember) came with aluminum turbines. Is this true?

Also, is there any need to upgrade the stock fuel system (larger injectors, nwe fuel pump blah bla) when I'm still running on the twins (new intake, 3" turbo-back, boost controller etc..)?

And whats stock inj cc again?

Thanks!

I seriously doubt that you have aluminum turbines, just because they would be prone to melting.

As for your fuel upgrades, I recommend getting a SAFC to lean it out a tad. You won't need to add any fuel, the stock fuel map is incredibly rich to start with.

There are 2 gen's a VVTI and Non VVTI version. Its easy to pick for one the VVTI is single turbo CT26b (IIRC) rounded sparkplug cover and the Non VVTI is twin turbo CT12as with a flat vented sparky cover.

No need to up the fuel delivery but a set of JDM 2jz 440cc injectors a direct bolt ins. Stock 1JZ injectors are 380cc.

I would highly recommend a Walbro. Depending on how much you modify on the stock twins, the fuel system may become a big problem.

Definitely upgrade your fuel system. More air only adds more HP/TQ. when there is more fuel to compensate for it. The 2nd. Gen 1Jz's are badass! They came in the Chaser & Mark2's. I get spanked by em all the time. Your a lucky bastard if you got the VVT-i 1JZ!

wouldn't it be hard to wire it the VVT-i 1JZ into our Supras. Every time i hear VVT-i everyone says walk away not worth the hassle. Also the 1JZ's can be bad as with a few little upgrades. As always it depends on what you want to do with it.

it cant be that hard. Cars are cars and wires are wires. The vvt isnt related to anything in the chassis wiring. I'd say go for it!

I know this is a stupid question...................but it's never stopped me before. Will the stock 1jz spank a stock mustang GT? I have not lost to a mustang since I've had my 7mgte, and don't want to start now. The newer mustangs are pretty quick, but I've beat everyone that I've raced. How quick is the stock 1jz? I am making 400rwhp now, so I know there will be a difference, but I plan on upgrading the 1jz. Is it basically like buying boltons for the 7mgte? Larger injectors, large single turbo. I already have the 255 installed. What is a good horsepower goal for a 1jz? Thanks............now flame away.

Yes, It will as I have done it so. My friend has a 2005 GT. We both switched cars after that and he thought my car felt a lot quicker. But then he is maybe 50 pounds heavier than me as well lol:biglaugh:
