So I did some thinking. Well 500 ponies is really where I want to be. So the question is if I get a aem and I balance my stock bottom with a fully built head. With the right fuel upgrades in the state of N.Y is 500 doable number on stock a stock bottom motor balanced to a 1/2 a gram?

i mean if your going thru the trouble of a built head why not spend the extra 500 to get eagle rods just to be safe

The stock rods will handle 500 HP...get them dressed and shot preened. Match balance the rods and pistons...you'll need to use forged pistons for these HP numbers. Use a 7M crank (pre-'89 has a 6M), it's heavier, but better balanced. Make sure the journals are in excellent shape...match the bearings to the low side of TRSM spec.

If you plan on hitting 500 HP...the AEM is the least of your priorities right now. You have to prep the head and use of a MHG with ARP hardware is required. To do all this right is gonna cost ya some $$$.

Suggest you do a search...then ask your questions.

I already have arp hardware and hks 1.2mm head gasket. The car has hks f-con monster intercooler, fcd , full 3-1/2 exh, aluminum csf rad, dual electric race fans, head mildly ported cams cut to a 264 dur, three angle valve job. I have tokico shocks eibach lower springs hks supra sequential. The car always had a code 52. When I finally found out why through my reseach!!!! from A lack of maintance and constant over fuel I developed the dread knock. I brought a 06 cbr1000 and well the supra kind of went on hold. Sorry I have been away for a while but I need turbo again. I guess if I need to uprade the pistons for this number I should just put pistons and rods.

I just wanted to say its the super sequential.. not the supra sequential. And the code 52 does NOT mean you have knock, it means the knock sensor is bad OR the wiring is bad.

No I wasn't saying thats why I have a knock. I have a knock because I failed to change gasoline infested oil. When you have a code 52 the ecu retards timing in turn leaving you runnig rich. Yes the knock sensors didn't have coaxial wiring . There was regular wire there. Not for nothing maybe my wording is bad but I am very mechanical inclined. And I read alot. I am just trying to figure out my next step. I would like to see 500 on a stock bottom. I feel that if I have to go forged pistons or rods to get this number than maybe I should have a higher hp goal.

^ I'm with you there.. my engine doesn't have that many miles (its JDM-YO).. but its been lasting great at 400+ RWHP.

In the meantime I'm deciding to rebuild my spare block with stock rods and pistons or forged.
