Stock oil cooler delete question.

I plan on getting rid of the stock oil cooler/filter mount and bolt my sandwich plate and filter directly to the block. Is there any particular 3/4 - 16 bolt that people are using? Im unsure if 1" is going to be enough length to thread into the sandwich plate locking nut.

Thoughts?

i'm using a union bolt from a ford.i never kept the part number handy though.it didn't seem like people were interested in doing this.it was long ehough to bolt the earl's thermostat too.
