I have a 1991 that is all stock in the interior and I want to keep it that way. The current head unit has the cassette player. In 1991 was the CD an option and if so, does anyone have one or know if they are still available?

Go look on ebay for a Toyota (or scion, maybe even lexus too) double din head unit. Almost all 87+ head units use the same wiring harness.

I will tell you though of you want the 91 style all in one you will have 3 types of that radio one has the plug for the 91 external amp and the other two are found in most 93-99 Toyotas and the back will have two different styles(one will be flat on the back and the other will have half of the rear sticking out). Here is the thing if you get a 91 radio you will be fine but those are hard to come by(for the style plug you need). The radio I will tell you to get is one in the first picture have. You will find this radio in a few toyotas from 95-98 and you will need the 93-03 OEM amp(in thrid picture) the amp. I've tested tons of OEM radios and this was the best. The sound is great(loudest of all radios Ive tested) cd player takes in the cd fast, plays fast, and skips songs fast as well. The others did not compare. You will need a external amp though to run this and if you have any questions you can PM me as well.
