it will hold, but if you start modding it will slip with hardly any abuse. Stock clutch only hold like 275-300ish to the wheels. And it wont like it. I had a stock clutch on my 7m that put down 291whp, didnt slip once on me, but it only lasted about 8K miles. I raced alot

I think it would be wise to go ahead upgrade while the engine and tranny are out of the car.

+ 1 for upgraded as well while it's out.

Ever changed out a r154 clutch while engine and tranny are in the car?! Let alone by yourself? I have and it sucked ass.

Yes I have! The damn tranny wont come off until after you unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel through the access panel, then you have to angle the motor still. Plus that tranny is HEAVY for one person lying under a car by themself. Good times, good times.

I thought it wasn't that bad, then I pulled the motor. Take less time to pull the motor and change the clutch. Man a 1JZ is an EASY motor to pull......

Oh, my stock clutch was sort of slipping a little when I got the car. I destroyed it with 1 night of drag racing. Upgrade it now while it's easy. I would recommend an RPS3200lb pressure plate and their matching disc. It's a bunch of money, but it'll hold almost anything you want to throw at it.

I also ran a centerforce dual friction for about 10k mi. It held about 350whp and a lot of abuse VERY nicely. When I took it out, there was about half the cluch pads left. My flywheel was another story :)
