Hi, whenever i let go of the gas while building any measure of boost my BPV makes a fluttering noise. It's pretty audible because I'm running a K&N intake. I'd like to know if this is the way the stock BPV sounds or if im experiencing compressor surge. Thanks.

Mine did this also, it kinda sounds like a SSQV except quieter due to recirculation. Mine did this from the very point that i bought the car so i don't know if it's abnormal or not. I do know this: I took my cousin's cooleze upper hardpipe portion off of his car and put it on mine since his isn't running (I like to get a loud POP! (backfire j/k) right after i let off the gas and get the SSQV to go off). Funny thing is, the BOV sounds completely dif on my car than it did on his, the only difference was I didn't use his full kit because the lower pipes are a PITA to put on and take off. The BOV on his car would make the fluttering noise under low boost. On full boost (stock) it would let off the normal BOV sound. On my car it doesn't flutter under low boost (also stock setting), it makes the really high pit BOV sound. Plus it's actually ALOT higher pitched on my car than it was on his. It could be because i'm running half an exhause (lower back pressure than my cousins) whereas he's running a complete system (I haven't bought the catback portion yet). I'm also talking about the HKS SSQV BOV from the Colon down (no pun intended).

I dont think that is the reason it flutters is it? I was thinkin the BPV is stuck shut. Mine doesnt leak.

I agree, if its fluttering its more likely that its compressor surge than anything and its not flowing at all. And besides if you were able to blow into it and it opened up he shouldnt be able to build boost whatsoever.

Hmm interesting I have my stock BPV and a greddy type-s. I hooked my stock bpv to run as the only BOV and screwed the type-s adjustment so that it took a lot of boost to open it. (to prevent boost leak since I dont have the stock piping to replace the greddy portion.) I guess my stock BPV flutters too but I actually thought it was the wategate.:icon_conf

I'll be watching this thread!

Edit: I'm boosting fine at 10 psi but when I shift into second (chirp)hard I hit fuel cut? What does that mean? Plus I can't get 12 psi in my car. It hits fuel cut in every gear...

Yea, i agree. I probablly wasnt building enough vacumn or boost to open up the BPV.
