I'm thinking about getting cam gears but don't know if its worth it? if it isn't then the money can be used else where for my single set up. my 1jz is all stock internals just basic bolt-ons and a single. i heard that for a stock internal 1jz, cam gears don't help any if ethier cam is advanced or retarded but i don't know if its acutally true? i know later on i will get cam shafts which is why i want to get them. after my single is running the car will then be professional tuned which is why i was thinking about getting a set? let me know what you guys think i should do, i'm completely stuck about them cuz i don't know if i'll see any gains for the money.

You can gain some increases in power and spool by retarding the exhaust cam slightly, I know Ric has some dyno graphs showing it. However, the price for the gains on a stock motor IMO is not worth it. I would suggest investing in a set of cams first. Cams COMPLETELY change the 1JZ.

Nothing to elaborate. Cams are the best upgrade to the 1JZ. Really opens the top end up on these revvy little beasts. Need a set of Crower small core 272s. PM me.

Elaborate please.
Ok. Crower small core 272 cams on a stock 1JZ. You will lose power below 3500, but once you hit it, torque just flies up, and holds power to over 7k.

Here's a dyno I did with stock twins at stock boost with cams, intake, exhaust, and some tuning.
