I have had this pointed out to me and I am just looking at some comments.
Currently running with a 57Trim CT26, 550 injectors, 3" exhaust and Lexus AFM.
Brand spanking new rebuilt engine.

Now, I ran out of $$ so have to wait on the intercooler/bov upgrade until later and am getting mixed information regarding running the stock intercooler.

Am I going to crater the turbo running the stock bov and stock intercooler at 14-15 psi boost? There are restrictions there, but I was told earlier that the stock intercooler can handle up to 400 HP (not sure if thats correct or if that is crank HP).

Just want to make sure I dont kill something by being broke rather than being stupid :)

(only reason I ask is because I am getting conflicting responses by various people and just wondered what the general consensus is, not that I dont believe those who say its a mistake, just because some say I will be alright until the point where I upgrade it - which is the path I am forced to be on currently)

Running the stock intercooler is fine. It has a pretty good efficiency for a stock intercooler.

The stock bov I would replace with a Bosch bpv tho.

The only intercooler we were able do to an actual before and after test with on our own car was one of the units from Cartech. At stock boost pressure we found an 11-horsepower gain between the stock and Cartech intercooler. While this gain was actually measured at the stock (8 psi w/exhaust) boost pressure, it should be noted that intercooler efficiencies are best tested in a real world or street environment with actual air flow across the core. Previous testing on the Cartech intercooler showed a 7/10 psi drop at 6.8 psi and 1.10 psi at 14 psi which basically agreed with our dyno runs. In addition to actual pressure drop, Cartech testing of the intercooler showed 89% efficiency vs. 68% on the factory unit. With the similarity in intercooler upgrades, it would be safe to say that any one of these would be an almost mandatory option if you are starting to go for serious boost.

Just a quick quote from the thread. Seems the stocker is pretty bad as far as PSI drop and efficiency.

does the Bosch BOV just go into the same location as the stocker? Googling to see where I can find one.

Yep, you'll need to use different hoses though unless your stock BPV hoses are still pretty pliable.

And you'll know if you're running it backwards, it'll moo at you when you transition between vacuum and boost. I couldn't figure out why my BPV was moo'ing at me til I removed it and noticed it was backwards.

My stock hoses are brand new actually.

mooo... that would be funny.

Now, is the BOSCH Turbo Bypass Cut-off Dump Valve 0280142110 (thats what I believe the full description is) all I will ever need? (staying with 550's and the 57 trim) of is this a shortcut?

I'm not sure how well it'll hold high psi, as it's a spring type bypass valve. I believe they will hold to 18 psi? Don't quote me on it though.
The piston type BOV's such as hks ssq close up tighter with the more PSI run.

Theres a few part numbers for that BOV. The Saab ones are plastic, and the Porsche one are metal. The Saab guys push allot of boost through the stock one. A BOV with more flow and response will keep your turbo happy.

the most common BOV for our cars is the HKS SSQL one I believe. I think it covers the whole spectrum and is a good performer. I may be happier with that one, but it would get attached to the hard pipe off of my 3000 pipe I think. (would have to weld on the flange)
