Stiff gas pedal fixes?

I love the stiff gas pedal. It reminds me of some big block motors I've helped build that had 900 cfm carbs on them. They had a monster spring, heavy pedal and big power. Even though the supra is only fraction of that, it still reminds me of the feedback those motors gave. I enjoy the heavier feel.

I once dated a girl with a Pontiac Grand Prix. Now that thing had no force behind the pedal. I swear a feather could have floored it. I guess it was to make a friendlier driving experience for women. BAH! That light weight pedal would continually mess with my head.

I love the stiff pedal feel. My 85 Celica was almost as stiff(as was my sister's old 85 Celica, both GTS mine hatch and hers coupe), and my 95 was even stiffer.
So I think Toyota just likes stiff pedals(although I don't remember my sister's 99 Camry having a stiff pedal, so maybe it's just on their sportier models).

There are 2 springs on the throttle body, one is quite stiff, one is softer. You can remove or simply unhook either one to make the pedal a little less stiff - can't find pictures right now.
Also it probably won't hurt to spray a little oil into the throttle cable duct (or whatever this thing is called) going through the firewall....

i'll just spray some WD-40 into the cable sheathing and call it good. I just wanted to make sure something wasn't wrong with our gas pedal. Thanks.

I like it too.

My moms 02 Town & Country is really lose and the seating is wierd, so it makes for some high revs (3.3 baby!) lol but my sisters 99 Sentra is a stiff. So im not too sure about the girly comfort thing. My brothers 96 prizm with 200k mi is loose as is my dads 00 corolla is also fairly loose. By far mine is the stiffest but the Sentra is pretty close.

Maybe its age but idk. I like the way it fells (felt) when you can cream it and get mashed into your seat. But i agree with MDC that there is a dead space where your not pushin it as hard as it feels. Basically sucks in city driving.

Mine is tight, I just don't like how it has a "dead spot" in it where you have to push it hard enough to make the cable move and then the car vrooms forward.
Exactly.... this gets a little better if you unhook one of the springs on the throttle body.

I once had to drive an '04 Audi A3 2.5 turbo diesel for a couple hundred kilometers, it was a completely different world compared to the Supra. The gas was extremely light as well as the steering (the clutch was quite heavy though), it was really nice to drive it uphill through the narrow winding roads of the Black Forest, very responsive.
Getting used to the Supra again after a day with the Audi was suprisingly difficult, it felt so heavy and sluggish, just like a tank.

The accelerator shoud be smooth and consistant. Anything else and you have a problem. Lube and adjust those cables. Don't compare these with other cars. Of cource my chevy feels differant than my ford. It's a gas pedal, if it don't feel right, it's not right.
