when i took off my wheel,i took off every part that was not needed. the wheel, duh, air bag 2X duh,and yes,the connector spiral thing that works the cruise control(for auto's) one wire is for ground, and the other three work the cruise. i plan on hooking it back up,but putting the cruise nob in the lumbar control area that is no longer being used. just splice in a 3 conductor and run it to where ever you like, and match up the wires. weeeeee

added note,if you want to use the horn, you'll need to add a piece of metal to ride on the underside of the bras/copper thing to work as a ground. i used a piece of metal coat hangar bent in a curl to constantly make a connection and screwed it to where one of the spiral thingy's mount holes went to. if neede i'll throw some pix for a better understanding

The spiral cable is for the airbag, if you're changing the steering wheel it's 100% useless.

The slipring is for the cruise/horn, you'll need something for the horn if you still want it to work.

EDIT: I think anyways, I don't think the spiral cable is for the cruise.
