Well, I wanted more gauges but didn't want apillars. so i decided to get a little creative. I've seen others do custom mounts before but thought id give you guys a cheap alternative. these are the same type of gauge cups i used(couldn't find the exact seller who sold them cheaper)
Basically just cut off the bottom swivel part of the cup, drilled a couple holes and heres what i got.

gauges fit nice, dont interfere with my view in car and, all in all i think it looks pretty clean.

This is like the 3rd thread that I've seen someone take some initiative and do something creative!

Nice work Marc, can't wait to see it installed! What have you got planned for gauges? Brand?

no, 2 more gauges = 8...

im just saying, having two in front of all the other gauges is a lil distracting..

Still doesn't make sense. I had my boost gauge in front of the stock one, then 2 more on the pillar. Not to mention the EBC in the ashtray.
I was never distracted by them. They're not meant to be a distraction, they're for information purposes.

maybe i should mention i have a habit of looking down at each gauge several times a minute..

after owning a gas guzzling 240, and when the supra overheated, i kept an eye on that, then my volt meter, since it kept jumping...

i look down a lot, but for a mirco-second each time.

well, stop being so paranoid, and get some good gauges with a warning function. wire in a buzzer, and be done with your habit.

i got to wait till i get my gauges, but fitted an autometer in it and it fits real nice. basically just find some short little bolts to use(found those ones in my basement). I just bought a defi boost gauge, and the rest of the gauges im getting are from prosportgauges.com i will be running the wires through the bottom of the stock gauge cluster with a little wire loom to clean it up.

I did basically the same thing on my car, but I left the pedestals on the pods. Way better than an A pillar pod, I'm not going to have it like that anymore because I'm doing something a little different and don't need to have any gauges on the column or A pillar ;)

Can't wait to see some pics with gauges and in the car.

more pics please. I want to do this. I refuse to put gauges in the A pillar again and couldn't think of anywhere else I wanted them.

or if you wanna make another set of 2, I'll pay you for them. :dunno: eitherway I like how low set they are but still completely visible.

you got the gauge holders from where?

Hmm this is a good alternative for those people not wanting to fiberglass their columns. You know who you are! :biglaugh:
