so i was browsing the net for cleaners and ive seen what steam will do as far as cleaning...hell i had a coolant hose blow in a prelude i had once and it striped the damn paint right off the metal...so i figured these would be good to use for cleaning the engine bay if caution was used...

anyone ever used one of these type systems?

i figure with something like this that cleaning hard to reach areas would be a snap and be a great way to keep our leaking power steering and other misc oil leaks from shitting up our engine bays....

discuss....

A pressure washer would do a much better job IMO, especially a heated "steam" pressure washer. Honestly, just use some degreaser, go to your local self serve car wash and pressure wash your engine down, comes out sparkling clean every time.

I have used those hand held steamer things they don't do a whole lot, you will feel lame sitting there using it. All it does is shoot steam and it doesn't have the high pressure water you need to blast grime away. Might be good for little things but trust me you will feel like a fool sitting there trying to use one of those on your engine.

Go rent a REAL steam cleaner.

Seen the difference myself, I'm impressed as it doesn't flood stuff with water or extreme pressure.
