Well I just got my supra running the other day and you can say im still a ameture at shifting because I havent had a manual tranny car in a few years and havent drove one in a couple of years either.
I was driving down the road when this car starts revving up beside me and im just cruzin 40 in 5th so I just downshift to forth and hit it and we were side by side for a mile doing about 80 or so. Then we stop at a light and hes all revving up and stuff so I waited till the light turned green and rolled a little and hit it. I have very very bad bald tires in the rear. It just started spining like hell so I shifted to second and still spun and got sideways. Then I shifted to third and missed...still working on that, third has always got me...when I get it in finally I get it to the floor and hit 60 and his about 1 car lenght ahead of me and im staying with him and very slowly catching him then I look in the rear view and I see white smoke...alot of white smoke. so I turned at the next light and he turned with me and stopped to see the problem too. The water line above the starter had popped off and completly covered the car in smoke. The dude said that he ran at the track and got a 15 sec 1/4 mile time...I said im stock...
I think the supra did pretty good even spinning through second and missing third and a stuck open BOV.
