When my car start it goes up to two grand then dies. I have a valve cover gasket leak. I cleaned all of the oil out of the galley and it ran for may be a month then it started doing this.

My main ? is. Is this being caused by the leak or does it sound like something else?

Did you replace the valve cover gaskets when you did this? Did you check if you are throwing any trouble codes? It's going to be easier for people on this board to answer if some basic troubleshooting is done first. Also, the TSRM has a troubleshooting guide in it for problems - your first step should be to see if any of the tips in the guide work for you. Basically, you've just asked somebody to tell you if something very specific is the root of your problem without giving any specific details.

If you have a known problem, it's always good to fix it before troubleshooting what else it may be.

My Bad. No i didn't replace the valve cover gaskets. And no its not throwing any trouble codes. I'm in the process of getting the gaskets and doing a tune up. I was just wondering if there was a any other explanation for it immediately die after starting.

My car was doing the same thing for a few weeks, in the end I found out it was just the battery....My battery was really thrashed though so I'm not surprised. If you decide to check that out, just get a battery from a friend and try it before you run out and spend money on a new one.

Hope it all works out for you.

Was it the connector for the AFM?

uhhh yeah. i just used some parts cleaner from autozone, sprayed both sides male and female of the connection, sprayed the inside the AFM, waited for it to completely dry, pit it back together, then i started going to shell gas. and it hasn;t done it since

You mean electrical parts cleaner, correct? I sure would hate for someone to hose down the afm connectors with brake cleaner...
