Here we go again
Code 51 can be several things. It's almost always because the IDL contact in the TPS isn't closed when the throttle is closed. Without IDL closed the ISC system is disabled and base timing can't be achieved. Not can a single asynchronous injection event take place during off idle acceleration, among other things.
Check to see if your throttle is fully closed. If so check the IDL and E pins on the TPS for continuity. A quick and dirty way to check IDL is to jump the diag block KOEO (key on engine off) and lightly press the gas pedal. You should get code 51. The code should disappear when the pedal is released. While your there you might as well turn on your AC and see if you also get code 51. That'll check the wiring the TCCS uses to adapt ignition timing when the AC is on.
The TPS will not prevent your car from starting. Since it does effect idle quality try holding a little pedal. Or fix the code 51 first. There is way too much emphasis placed on the TPS by people here as it only has secondary weight in the EFI system. You could drive around all day with the TPS disconnected and you shouldn't feel any difference in the car other than a slighty goofy idle.
