i recently replaced my HG on my 87 turbo, did everything correctly. and the car was down for about 2.5 months, so accordingly the battery was a little tired. so i got it started and it ran and started fine for about 50 miles. then i jumped in to go on a drive and i was getting absolutely no electircity at all in my car, no dome lights, no dash lights, no beep noise when the key is in the igntion and the door is open...nothing. so i try to turn it over and not even one single click or sound happened. at that time i got out the jump starter and jumped started it, it started and idled at about 500rpm. i drove it and then i shut it off to see if it would start again, but it didnt, the same thing happened. no electricity. i went to the local Les Schwab and got my battery tested, the machine said the "re-charge and re-test" but it was also sending out error codes for the alternator. so any advice on what to do would be awesome, because i need to buy a battery, an alternator, or some random fuse i could've blown and i dont want to buy the wrong thing and waste my money. sorry for the short novel, but i had to get my problem out there. thanks guys.

No electricity would mean a crapp battery or crappy connections. Clean(or replace) the terminals and tighten the cables down.

If it was me, and I had the money, I would go ahead and buy a new battery and alternator to save you from a future breakdown somewhere down the road (most have lifetime warranties, I think). Rent/borrow/buy a battery/alt tester and see what it shows. (basically just reads voltage of the battery, and then checks the alt by putting a load on it, or smoething of that sort anyway)

Why not do what the battery tester suggested? A battery will discharge doing absoluety nothing.

It should charge on a low setting for at least a day. If it doesn't come back, then get a new one. Then worry about testing your charging system.

If it was alive, and died after driving, check the output of your alternator.
The battery WAS good, however questionable, it still had enough juice to run the car. The alternator should have charged it to a more acceptable level. My battery died about 6mo ago in my Subaru from sitting. I jump started it, and drove the car for a bit. Been driving on that same battery problem free ever since.
